Why I started Stillhome
A home is never just a house.
For more than 25 years, I’ve worked across graphic design, illustration, photo compositing, and visual storytelling. That experience taught me to notice the details that make an image—and a place—feel unmistakably personal.
After my mother passed away, my wife and I moved back home to be closer to friends and family. We searched for an older, custom-built house with character—something with history, heart, and room to make our own. We found our forever home on the bluff in Sheffield, Alabama, overlooking the Tennessee River in North Alabama.
That experience became the heart of Stillhome Portraits. I personally refine every portrait—preserving the architecture, cleaning and balancing the original photograph, and adding watercolor texture—then work with a carefully selected professional production partner to create a finished piece worthy of the home and family it represents.
